Extending the Day

After School Club/Before School Club is the name of the Extended Day program and enrollment is available for Pre-School-8th Grade students who require after or before school care.  It provides flexibility and convenience for families of children in Pre-School through 8th grade, while giving the students time for activities, games, exercise, help with their homework, and a snack in a safe and comfortable environment. As an extension of the regular school day, the Before and After School staff reinforce the same values that are being taught in the classrooms. The Extended Day program is separated into Pre-School, Lower School, and Middle School groups.  Before School Club begins as early as 7am.  After School Club runs from the end of the regular school day until 5:30pm, or 6pm for those enrolled in the Double Extended program.  Prior enrollment in Before and After School Club is required.

A student may occasionally stay late ONLY IF the required ratios allow for additional students. Families who wish to request an occasional extended morning or afternoon, should complete a request form at the front desk for Pre-School or email the Division Head for K – 8th grades. These requests should be made in advance; it is not safe to assume the extra hours will be available.

Pre-School and Lower School (Infants – 3rd Grade)

Activities for Extended Day take place in the Wings, classrooms, and playground. In addition to some full-time teachers, part-time After School Club teachers supplement the schedules of the full-time teachers at all age levels. Each morning in Before School Club, Pre-School children gather in their respective Wings to play in classrooms, Commons, or on the playgrounds.  K – 3rd grade students gather in a classroom or Commons for quiet conversation, games, and reading.  In the afternoon, After School Club is an extension of the student’s regular day.  Students are outside when weather permits. Depending on their age, students may enjoy a snack, time on the playground, activities in classrooms or the Commons areas, homework, sports, Scouts, ballet, gymnastics, Taekwondo, chorus, drama, or music lessons.  Some of these activities require an additional fee and registration.

Middle and Upper School (4th – 12th Grades)

Before the school day begins, 4th - 8th grade students gather in a classroom or Commons for quiet conversation, games, and reading.  After school, students enjoy a snack, time on the playground, activities in classrooms or the Commons areas, homework, sports, scouts, chorus, drama, or music lessons.  Some of these activities require an additional fee and registration.  Students are outside when weather permits. Many sports teams use the last period of the day and/or time at the end of the school day for practices.
