Message From Head

Hello there! I am glad you are taking time to learn more about Riverfield Country Day School. Serving families with children two months through 12th grade, we have enjoyed 28 years of growth and progress ― while remaining true to our family atmosphere and “whole student” approach to education and learning.

Starting as a Pre-School in 1984, we have grown our program to encompass Infants – Upper School students because our families are pleased with the unique Riverfield experience. They value our small class sizes and caring faculty and staff. They value the outdoor encounters we provide on our 120 acre wooded campus. And they value the exceptional way we facilitate the educational process ― building knowledgeable and capable, self-confident and self-aware, interested and interesting students ― to foster a life-long love of learning.

The 2011-12 school year is my 28th and final one as Head of School. I look forward to continuing my involvement with the school on short and long term projects as well as spending more time gardening, traveling, and being a grandmother. Jerry Bates, our current Assistant Head of School, will take the helm over the summer, and I am confident in Jerry’s ability to lead our school into the future.

Whether you are intrigued by our Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, our creative staff, our students’ high test scores, our growing athletic programs, or our innovative fine arts opportunities, we encourage you to learn more about us.
