Electives
Electives are selected each semester based on student interests
and may include Japanese, speech, debate, jewelry making, music,
guitar and Roots & Shoots.
Fine
Arts
Studio art, music, drama and multi-media arts are offered.
Physical
Education
PE classes encourage students to become fit for life.
Philosophy
Introduction to philosophy is designed to acquaint students with
basic philosophical ideas, theories and questions. Students work
individually and as a group to develop personal philosophies.
SAT/ACT
Prep
Students take the PLAN test in 10th grade and the PSAT in 10th
and 11th grades. Eleventh grade students take an SAT/ACT prep.
Service
Students in 9th-12th grades have one period each week for service
to the Riverfield community. Volunteering in a Pre-School or Primary
School class, being an aide to a teacher or staff member or caring
for the schools many animals are possible choices. Community
Service is encouraged with opportunities through- out the year
and supported by Riverfields membership in the Presidential
Service Award program and Roots and Shoots Club.
Technology
Classes vary to meet individual student needs. Topics include
but are not limited to word processing, presentation skills and
webpage design.
