All children are seen as competent and creative musicians and there is an emphasis on play, student voice, improvisation, movement, and joy.

The Lower School Music program is an Orff Schulwerk-inspired program. Lower School students build their creativity and collaboration with the art of music! Through singing, dancing, playing instruments, and reading music, students develop into creative, independent musicians as they rise through the grades. Students have the option to join after-school choir programs; Blue Raven Jrs, Blue Raven Singers, and the Blue Ravens. Starting in the 4th grade, students may join the Riverfield Rocks rock band program as an elective.

Blue Ravens is a choral program divided by ages. It is free to participate (there is a $25 once a year fee that pays for T-shirts and other incidentals) While the choirs are open to all, faithful attendance is expected  and any absences need to be communicated by families to me. "Blue Raven Singers is an after-school chorus. There are no auditions; however, chorus size is limited. Exemplary behavior and faithful attendance are expected with, ideally, no more than two absences.

Each choir performs at least once in the first and second semesters.
