Position Title: Middle School Social Studies Teacher

Riverfield Country Day School is seeking a dynamic and passionate educator to join our team as a Middle School Social Studies Teacher. This position offers the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative and creative environment, where innovative teaching methods are encouraged and supported.

Responsibilities:

·         Develop and implement an integrated and project-based curriculum that engages students in meaningful learning experiences.

·         Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills.

·         Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and resources to meet the diverse needs of students.

·         Foster a love of learning and curiosity about the world through hands-on activities, discussions, and interactive lessons.

·         Collaborate with colleagues to integrate social studies content with other subject areas and promote interdisciplinary learning.

·         Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative assessments and provide timely feedback to students and families. 

Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and guardians about their child's academic and social-emotional growth.

·         Participate in professional development opportunities and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement as an educator.

Requirements

B.A./B.S. in Education, Social Studies or a related field required; M.A./M.S. in a related field preferred

·         Strong content foundation in social studies with the ability to teach a range of topics and grade levels.

·         Experience designing and implementing project-based learning experiences.

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

·         Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and families in a diverse community.

·         Dedication to professional growth and ongoing learning.

·         Experience in independent schools is preferred but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk and hear, traverse the classroom and school building, as well as outdoor areas.  There are prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and working on a computer.  Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
